FAQ
What is Lemon Sour レモンサワー ?
Lemon Sour レモンサワー is Japan’s go-to favorite social drink since the 1970s - one of the country’s most beloved all-day-and-night formats, capturing the soul Japanese hospitality culture. Lemon Sour レモンサワー can be found in every izakaya, bar, club, restaurant and venue all across Japan. Lemon Sour is extremely popular in Japan due to its perfect balance of sweet and sour, tangy, crisp, slightly salty taste. And to top it all off the incredibly smooth taste of Japanese Shochu. It tastes refreshing, crisp and sparkling with a perfectly balanced profile. For us, it’s much more than all of this - for us it's the taste of Japan.
Is Lemon Sour レモンサワー a cocktail or seltzer?
Lemon Sour stands as a flagship in its own category. In Japan, sours are what to the west are spritzers, beers and everyday social drinks - not cocktails, not seltzers. While seltzers and other alcoholic ready-to-drinks, which usually rely on cost-effective cheap alcohol, are often made with artificial flavors, IPPAI Lemon Sour レモンサワー is defined by fresh, high-quality ingredients, 100% Japanese Shochu and Sicilian Lemon. We consciously avoid any preservatives, chemical additives or artificial ingredients to ensure a 100% authentic, natural taste.
What type of alcohol is used in IPPAI Lemon Sour レモンサワー?
IPPAI Lemon Sour レモンサワー is made with 100% authentic quality Shochu, produced in Japan. And we're proud of that!
What is Shochu?
To keep it short: Shochu is good. Shochu is one of Japan's most traditional spirits. Shochu is very low in purines and histamines which make it a fantastic conscious alternative for modern alcoholic drinks. It's pure, incredibly versatile, gives every drink a hint of umami feeling that no other spirit can match. Shochu in Japan is produced in extremely high quality. That's precisely why we exclusively use Shochu from Japan for IPPAI Lemon Sour レモンサワー.
(Shochu is Japan's next big cultural export: Although Shochu is as commonplace and popular in Japan, it's still a real insider tip in the rest of the world. Shochu is just beginning its global journey. It's the "next big thing" in the international bar scene and IPPAI strives to be part of that historic journey.)
What is Korui Shochu?
Unlike Honkaku Shochu, Korui Shochu is distilled multiple times. This makes it exceptionally pure and neutral in flavor. Perfect as a base for IPPAI Lemon Sour レモンサワー.
Is it true that Shochu causes less of a hangover?
Shochu is fermented with koji during production. Besides other benefits it's production process eliminates many harmful substances. Fewer fusel oils, less purine and very low histamine make getting up the next day easier – but as always, the dose makes the poison. Always drink responsibly!
